Raymond and Graham have goals. This year they are going to win the baseball championship, trick the substitute by trading names with other kids in the class and last but not least, Graham is going to get a school picture from Kelly. They've had enough of David, the bully, who pitches for the enemy and throws at them instead of over the plate. Life is having a little fun with them though. When the substitute walks into the class, she turns out to be none other than Raymond's mom who knows everyone by name and even holds the tissue out for them to blow their noses. There goes the good time everyone had planned. For picture day, Graham gets his hair done with gallons of hair gel and Raymond buys a new shirt to wear and finds out at school that it came from the girl's department. In fact, Lizzie is wearing the same thing for her picture. The whole book has a great comedic timing and parts of it are absolutely laugh out loud.
