Nick Crandall is a foster kid living in a new foster family with parents who love him but don't really know anything about the sports that are so important to him. He's a great catcher and shines on his junior varsity baseball team but an injury to an older player will move Nick up to the varsity team. He falls apart. He's lost. He can't play ball and his grades are plummeting. Everything is going wrong and Nick is feeling pretty sorry for himself. Can he conquer his emotions and get back on the base path?
