Picking up right where Unremembered left off, Seraphina and Zen have escaped into the year 1609. However, things quickly spiral out of control when Seraphina is accused of witchcraft and Zen gets deathly ill. All of a sudden Seraphina finds out she actually needs the help of the organization she has spent so much energy escaping. Plot twists are uncovered as secrets about the history of Diotech are revealed and the reasons behind the creation of an artificial human being are exposed.
The romance between Seraphina and Zen becomes a big part of the story, especially with a new character thrown into the mix which introduces a love triangle. Without reading book one, readers will have difficulty following this installment of Seraphina’s story, but those who enjoyed Unremembered will find the same fast pace and gripping story in this continuation.
