Snyder's first foray into the young adult market is a satisfying read from start to finish. Trella is a scrub, one of the nameless, faceless masses who perform the endless jobs required to keep Inside running smoothly for the privileged uppers. When her friend brings her to see Broken Man, yet another prophet spouting promises about Gateway and Outside, Trella intends to warn him to leave her friend alone; she knows better than to fall for the empty promises of such men. Almost against her will, Trella becomes drawn into the search for Gateway, a search that will have her questioning everything she's ever known, her identity, and her entire world and the beginning of a revolution.
