Walking out in the woods behind his house one day, Gib Finney meets a stranger who offers him a gift. The gift is a unique tool that can un-do time - hence the "Power of Un." Now, Gib looks forward to going to the carnival in town every year with his best friend. This summer his parents tell him he must take his younger sister along. He obeys, but when it comes to going on his favorite ride, he draws his line and tells her to wait at the bottom. Gib and his friend take the ride which climbs and as they sit high in the sky, they chance to look down and watch in horror as Gib's sister takes off running after a dog and collides with a truck.
