The characters of The Giver and Gathering Blue appear again in this thought-provoking tale. Matty has found a place for himself in The Village alongside the many others who have fled the oppression of their former societies. He is a messenger, and he lives with a blind man known as the Seer. The Village is changing now and it may have something to do with the Trade Marts that the villagers attend. There is talk of a wall. Dark forces are rising, and Matty is called to use his special gifts. Ages 10-14
