It's the days of the Dust Bowl. Young Matt decides to walk into town; a truck picks him up, and he disappears. The family struggles with the loss. Then a strange man, Mr. Abrams, comes to town with a special mirror. Everyone who looks into the mirror sees what they want to see. He promises the townspeople that he can bring rain. Matt's brother is watching all of this take place with a feeling of desperation. He can see what others can't see about Mr. Abrams, and slowly he begins to get the feeling that Mr. Abrams may have something to do with the disappearance of Matt. Ages 10-14
