Good for Reluctant Readers?

Emma’s main goal in life was to be accepted into one of the best colleges in the country. Nothing was more important than good grades and doing well in school. Homework consumed her life – more important to her than quality time with her mother.
Then one day her mother is suddenly gone. A fatal embolism in her brain has taken her life instantly. Grief has consumed her and she finds herself hating her step father who she used to love.
Her step father has chosen to keep her mother alive with machines until their baby that they tried so hard for can live outside the womb. Emma does not agree with this decision. That coupled with the death of her mother has left her whole life consumed with anger, hatred and grief. Grades, friends and school just don’t matter anymore. The only person she can count on is her best friend Olivia who is always there for her.
Then one day she talks to Caleb, the boy at school who is always in trouble and everyone treats like a pariah. Caleb who is dealing with his own guilt and grief seems to be the only one who understands. Can she really overcome what she has allowed herself to become? Will Caleb be the answer for her? Can her family ever move forward or will it be torn apart forever?
