Lucy and Evan have been bffs forever, even withstanding Lucy’s parents’ divorce and her move from New England to Georgia. The two have always managed to pick up where they left off during Lucy’s annual visits with her father each Christmas break. Things are different this year though. Evan does not recognize this Lucy. Everything about her is different from her Goth get-up and her new smoking habit to her dismal attitude. Evan doesn’t much like this “New Lucy.” Occasionally, he can coax the “Old Lucy” out by working on their fantasy comic, Aelysthia, together. Lucy thinks that Evan has a perfect life and sneers at his perceived stresses, such as his father’s increasing pressure to beef up his college resume.
