Reluctant Reader
Vera just wants to get through high school without being noticed. She goes to school, she does her homework, and she works at her pizza delivery job. She’s the responsible daughter her father wants—the kind of person her mother wasn’t. But now she’s being haunted by Charlie, her best friend and first love, dead now because of his own stupid decisions. She knows he didn’t do what he’s accused of, but she’s still mad at him for all the horrible things he did to her. She’s still mad at him for dying and leaving her. She doesn’t want to clear his name. She doesn’t want to lose him again. 336 pages Ages 14 and up
