Singer created the reverso poem in Mirror Mirror, a companion book to Follow
Follow, and she continues this form comprised of two poems that are flipped versions
of each other. Although both poems contain the same words, the varied word order
and punctuation creates a new perspective and sometimes a new narrator. Included in
this collection are well known tales like The Three Little Pigs as well as more obscure
tales like The Nightingale. The full page acrylic paintings beautifully complement each
pair of poems. With sophisticated language and critical thinking skills necessary for
comprehension, this collection is appropriate for older picture book readers already
familiar with the fairy tales. An author’s note that briefly tells the story of the original
fairy tales is helpful in understanding any unknown tales. This would be a perfect
