Shape Me a Rhyme: Nature's Forms in Poetry
Illustrator
Fiction/Non-Fiction
Wonderful Jane Yolen has written simple poems describing shapes in nature. The poems are matched with beautiful photographs from nature. For example, on the page of the spiral shape is a snail clinging to a lovely lavender flower. "Tight as a spring" begins the poem. To illustrate the oval shape there is a crisp photograph of a bird's egg sitting alone in a nest. It's the shape of an ellipse, an ovoid, an oval. This is a lovely book that reveals all the geometric shapes in the natural world all around us.
