Our Farm: By the Animals of Farm Sanctuary

"Picture a place where cows graze in fields, pigs play in the snow, chickens stretch their wings in the sun, and ducks swim together happily," reads the author's note from Maya Gottfried. If you can picture such a place, you will have a sense of what this wonderful book looks like. The paintings of the farm animals are endearing and the personality of each animal who lives in the Farm Sanctuary, founded in 1986, shines through. Along with every charming illustration is a poem written by the animal. Witness the baby goats: "Hello there! How are you? Cool bag. Let's have a sample. Yummy pants leg. Can I try some? I'd like to nibble on your sleeve. Nice shoes, do they taste good? Nice to meet chew." Do you love it? And the expressions on the faces of the two baby goat poets, Ari and Alicia, are Real-ly cool! Great great read aloud. For adults: This poetry book is written to educate us about two spacious farms which are sanctuaries for farm animals who have been neglected and abused.
