Any adult with an internet connection is probably familiar with the popular website Humans of New York, which chronicles slice-of-life stories and photographs from NYC, and now the kids can get in on the fun!
Little Humans features photographs of kids at play, some of which will be familiar to fans of the website and some of which are brand new. Old or new, all of the photos capture a vivacious and interesting child. Kids of different ages, genders, interests, and nationalities populate the pages, and parents will be glad to see so much diversity throughout.
The full-size photographs are the obvious stars of the book, but the accompanying text—a simple poem—serves them well. Turn the pages and meet kids who are strong and tough (but not too tough to need a hug), who are playful, artistic, and loving.
They’ll meet kids who fall down, kids who can brush off their knees and get back up again, kids who will do big things one day. After all, “little humans are growing each day. They won’t be little for long. Soon they will be….BIG!”
*Thoughts from a 3-year-old: My son LOVES looking at pictures of people (especially babies), so this book was right up his alley and he took his time and studied each photo before moving on to the next. We are a transracial family, and I am always looking for books that showcase diversity. I was happy to share this one with him.
