Nine shapes - can you name them?  "Once you know how to ifnd them, you can use shapes to make anything you'd like."

We've all loved Lois Ehlert's Color Farm and Color Zoo for years.  Here's a new look at shapes that challenges a child's imagination.

Using a step-by-step gradual process, we are introduced to the names of the nine shapes and then we watch as they begin to shift themselves into recognizable objects.

Look at the ballerina. Do you see the triangle and the semicircle that create her body?

On each page we see the stacks of the basic shapes and what our imagination can create from them. The process leads us to a double page spread of stacked shapes and the delightful invitation to see what your own imagination will create from them.

The text "teaches" children how to see the shapes in objects on the page and all around them in their world.  It's a wonderful game and a teachable moment all rolled into one.
