Mr. Fun strikes again.  How many times have you sung Yankee Doodle and wondered what you were really saying?  I mean what is the macaroni thing anyway?

Meet Yankee Doodle and his pony who are having a very interesting conversation about going in to town.  Yankee is lying about and is not interested in going to town.  Pony is trying to get Yankee to go to town by making helpful suggestions as in they could go shopping, Yankee could buy a feather for his hat,  he could call his hat macaroni... or if need be... lasagna.

Yankee is Crankee.  For every good idea Pony comes up with, Yankee has a Crankee and hilarious response.  This would be a great read aloud for a class you're talking to about Colonial American history.  What a wonderful way to start a conversation about what words used to mean, how people dressed back then, and how delightful their ponies were.

It wouldn't be Tom Angleberger without a fun twist at the end.  Great read aloud.  Hilarious.  Yeeee hawww! (Great for teaching persuasive writing.)
