"and they ALL GOT STUCK." "What would you throw up into YOUR tree?" That's what I'd be asking the kids to think about, depict in an art project, and act out for the group after reading them this hilarious, gross-motor tale about a kid named Floyd who, in the wake of getting his kite stuck in a tree, heaves his shoe up there to dislodge the kite...and then heaves up the other shoe to dislodge the first shoe...then heaves up the cat...the ladder...the can of paint...the milkman...and you just won't believe what else ends up in that tree as the objects become larger and more improbable! Oliver Jeffers' illustrations provide a lot of clear space so that you are focused entirely on Floyd, the next object de jour, and the accumulation in the tree. Being that we're about to head into Christmas TREE season, I strongly suggest surprising young audiences with this roll-on-the-floor tree-of-a-different-stripe tale. But just watch out that the kids don't get the notion to throw their librarian up into the tree. Richie Partington, MLIS California USA https://richiespicks.com_ (https://richiespicks.com/)
