Dorje's Stripes

Far from his jungle, alone and hungry, the tiger traveled to reach the safety of the monastery. In the mountains of Tibet, the Buddhist monks fed Dorje until he could hunt again. But his stripes had all faded away…

Until one day a young monk saw that Dorje had a new stripe! And the master told the sad story of how hunters had stalked the last clan of Royal Bengal tigers, with Dorje losing a stripe whenever a tiger was killed, running away at last to escape.

This outstanding picture book for all ages features beautiful watercolors that make this tale of near-extinction from India even more compelling, as it asks young conservationists to help the tigers and bring a happy ending to Dorje’s story.

A very beautiful story to emphasize on tiger conservation. The pain that Dorje has experienced can be felt. True joy emerges to the readers when the stripes emerge back. Strong and effective message in the most wonderful manner for young minds. Gifted it to my grand niece and I am sure she is going to love it. Her parents have loved it anyways :) Wow Karadi Tales!!
