It's Valentine's Day and Splat the Cat has big plans for a very special white cat named Kitten. He likes her and he's made her a valentine. He doesn't exactly understand how she feels about him though because she's always poking him in the belly and telling him he's smelly.
What could that mean? So after making sure he's all spruced up, he heads to school and the chance to give his valentine to the lovely Kitten. We all know that all is not fair in love and war and in this case the vying for the affections of the fair Kitten. Splat finds himself deeply discouraged by the over the top competition from Spike...just his name pretty much tells the whole story.
What a terrific read aloud for Valentine's Day as our worry mounts that Splat won't have his chance and we all learn a lesson about what "like" is all about.
