I love these brightly colored, energetic books from Barefoot Books. They do them so well. Meet Granny who is over in Turkey bargaining for a rug in the marketplace. Happy with her rug, she flies off to Thailand (on the rug) where she purchases two temple cats. And on she goes to some fascinating places in all parts of the globe finding little treasures as she goes. As she adds to her stash of rug goodies and visits the foreign lands, we see a picture of each place with all its unique cultural features and we realize that the places are as exciting and as interesting as the treasures she picks out to take home to her lucky grandchild. There are maps on the front and back endpapers that show us all of her stops and have dotted lines connecting one place to another as she travels about. Bright, bold colors and a genuine sense of the wonder of visiting places that are new and different just leap off the pages with great energy and fun. Ages 4-7
