The Name Jar
Unhei has moved to a new country and a new town and a new school and she is worried about fitting in. Some things are the same - like the rain- but some things are different- like the names. The kids on the bus make fun of her name and call her "Hey You." Unhei doesn't want to be different. She decides to pick an American name. Her mother says you are different and that's a good thing. Then, all the kids at school create a name jar for her and they all put in slips of paper with names they think would be perfect for Unhei. But, when the day comes for Unhei to choose a name, she realizes how much she likes her own name. Korean names have meaning. Unhei means grace.
