This book is well designed with photographs of the major in the desert amidst the tools of war and with the dogs who dot the landscape. One dog in particular caught the major's eye. It was a dog whose ears were clipped. They were mere nubs-hence the name. A bond formed between them. Maps reveal the journey that Nubs undertook to find his man. Then, maps show the journey that Nubs took to the United States where he found a better world and eventually was joined by his best friend, Major Dennis. It's a gem.
