An Extraordinary Egg An Extraordinary Egg

An Extraordinary Egg

Every time I read a Leo Lionni book I am always so impressed with his deep respect for children. This is the story of three frogs, one of whom Jessica, loves to explore her world looking for objects of wonder. One day she finds 'a huge pebble' which turns out to be a chicken egg according to Marilyn 'who knew everything.' Now when the chicken hatches, it promptly heads down into the lake and dives in and teaches the frogs a thing or two about swimming. The story gets even better when the chicken returns to its mother. Sometimes those people who know everything about everything, just might have it all wrong. Not that they'd admit it though!
