Grace is a young girl with a love of stories and a vivid imagination. She loves to act out the stories she hears and the stories she makes up in her own head. At school one day, her teacher announces that they are going to do the play of “Peter Pan.” Grace knows immediately that she wants to play the part of Peter. The voices around her tell her she can’t be Peter because she’s a girl and she can’t be Peter because she’s black. Grace feels sad, but, the voices of her mother and her Nana give her a different, better message. Sequels in this series include Boundless Grace, Princess Grace, Encore, Grace!, Starring Grace, Bravo, Grace!, and Grace and Family
