There’s a movement afoot these days to get our children back in touch with nature and to send them back outside where they belong. This is a wonderful story about the call of wilderness and a reminder that we all need to care for our wild places and animals. Bosco Burak comes to the farm every June on his way up to the tower on Call Back Mountain where he watches out for signs of forest fire. The boys, Ben and Joe, look forward to being with him, and all summer long their family lights two lanterns and waits for Bosco to answer with the light of his lantern from high on the mountain. One night, Bosco’s light does not shine.
