Kisses on the Wind

Saying goodbye to your grandmother is very hard! A family is moving to Oregon during the westward expansion and a young girl is concerned about leaving her grandmother. They try to "picture" special shared memories and to make a bark boat together. The story suggests the way to handle missing someone special is to do memorable things with other people. When it is finally time to say goodbye, the grandmother is given a special book of written memories, the granddaughter tries hard to "picture" her grandmother for the last time and the family has a final group hug to say goodbye. There are kisses on the wind as the final moment. This is a special gentle story about saying goodbye. Recommended by Christy Pierce, librarian. 32 pages Ages 5-9
