Eight-year-old Moon Shadow comes from China to join his father, whom he has never met, in San Francisco in 1903. A tragic event forces them to leave the security of Chinatown, after which they experience the devastation of the 1906 earthquake. Even this catastrophe, however, does not deter Moon Shadow’s father from realizing his dream.
