Frank and his mother have come to Florida to join their father. It's 1943 and, as they soon learn, Dad has shipped out with the Navy, and they will have to wait for him to return. Mom finds a house for them to live in. It's a bit remote, sitting on the water. Frank is the new kid at school and, as he introduces himself to his classmates, his imagination runs a little bit wild. There is a hint of the "boy who cried wolf" in this story. One night Frank goes down to the ocean and sitting there in the dark, he sees a spy come out from a submarine, and Frank watches as the man buries a chest in the sand. Now, Frank needs someone to believe him, as he slowly realizes the shipyard is in danger and so are his schoolmates. 128 pages Ages 8-11
