Dragons, trolls, fairies and Baba Yaga in a flying cup are among the colorful panels of the dramatic magic-and-action-filled sequences. Contrasting grey toned panels interweave scenes from Aliera’s human world of high school biology class, city streets and bus trips to fencing class or to visits to her talented but wheelchair-bound cousin. This is a highly recommended graphic novel with its strong female protagonist and cleverly interwoven worlds of real and imaginary with obstacles and triumphs in both worlds, and showing clear intentions to be continued in further volumes.
