This is a collection of six plays each contributed by a Newbery Medal winner.  The list includes Sharon Creech, Katherine Paterson, Susan Cooper, Richard Peck, Avi and Patricia MacLachlan.

The plays range from about 22 to 35 pages long and consist of casts numbering from 5-9 players.  Sharon Creech writes a spoof, Susan Cooper takes on the environment, Katherine Paterson writes a new fairy tale, Richard Peck takes on some schoolboys and a spooky substitute, and Patricia MacLachlan has a little fun with school detention.

The trick to this entire book is that the authors all shared six words and those words had to appear in each play.  The words were:  dollop, hoodwink, Justin, knuckleball, panhandle, and raven.
