Odessa Again

Fourth grader Odessa's life is changing.  Her parents have divorced and her father has decided to re-marry but instead of re-marrying Odessa's mom, he's marrying a woman named Jennifer.  Odessa and her toad of a little brother, Oliver, are moving into a new house with other people's stickers stuck to the dryer.  Nothing is right.

But there is that attic in the new house... the place where Odessa would love to have her bedroom all to herself and when Oliver the toad puts a field mouse down Odessa's dress, her mother caves in and agrees to give Odessa the attic as her own special place.

Turns out the room is even more special than Odessa ever imagined.  One day when she's really angry at Oliver, she stomps her feet really hard on the floor and finds herself slipping through the floor and slipping back through time one complete day.  It's weird.  She remembers everything that happened the day before and now she's reliving it all and only she knows.

What would you do if you could turn time back one day?  What would you choose to do differently? What mistake would you undo?  What kindness would you offer?

In the middle of a topsy-turvy world, Odessa holds on to the magic in her attic and hopes with all her heart it will help her have enough power to create the world she hopes for.
