Bargain for Frances

Frances is headed out the door to play with Thelma today. "Be careful," says her mother. Thelma is a crafty one all right, and this time Frances is going to play tea party with mud and Thelma's plastic tea set. Frances is saving her money, all of $2.17 so far to buy a blue and white china set. So, just how long does it take old wheeler dealer Thelma to get that $2.17 out of Frances in return for the plastic set? This girl has a future in used cars for sure.

When Thelma gets home she finds out from her little sister that contrary to what Thelma has assured her, there is a blue and white china tea set for sale at the local candy store and they are only asking $2.07. Talk about an aspiring con artist. But Frances is not one to explode or take things lying down. She figures out her own con worthy of Ocean's Eleven and Twelve.

It's absolutely delightful to watch Thelma the expert in action and Frances, her equal, take care of herself. Hilarious and truly a page turner as every child will buy into this story one hundred percent and watch closely to learn from the masters. The endearing illustrations keep everything warm and reassuring. 63 pages I Can Read Level 2 Ages 4-8
