Orphaned 15 year old Callum Murdoch arrives in Canada from his home
in Scotland to live on his uncle's farm. It will be hard to adjust to this new world and new life set just following the American Revolution but Callum works hard to make the change. Along the way he makes the choice to buy an abused dog to save it from its brutal owner and Dog becomes a nurturing supportive friend. Soon after buying Dog, Callum receives a box with the mysterious directions never to open it or he will lose Dog.
