Owen Birnbaum is twelve years old, one point shy of being a genius and fatter than most kids his age. His sister, Caitlin, has decided to join the GWAB's-Girls Who Are Boys and is now wearing boys clothes and calling herself Jeremy. At home Owen has a secret project. He's working really hard to invent a contraption that may help him see a moment in time from the past. It's a very important moment. At school Owen is trying to figure out who is stealing the Oreo cookies from his lunch and is suffering bullying and abuse from his peers and his gym teacher, Mr. Wooly. Behind the chubbiness and the genius, lies a trauma from the past and Owen is determined to use his invention to help him solve the mystery of who killed his parents. A blend of what you see on the outside and what the real under the surface story is giving us all a bit of food for thought.
