When the baby bird hatches from his egg, his mother is not in the nest to greet him. He falls out of his nest and goes walking to find her. As he walks, he meets animals along the way. "Are you my mother?" he asks each one. He even thinks a steam shovel is his mother. Does he have a mother? Where can she be? Fabulous read aloud and great for showing a "confused" character. I like Are You My Mother because the little chicken ask everyone are you my mother. It made me laugh. I read this book 34 times. I love Dr. Seuss books.
