Imagine being about to turn thirteen years old and knowing that when you do, your “savvy” will be revealed to you and to those around you. This is exactly the spot where we meet Mibs. Her family, the Beaumonts, all get their “savvy” at age 13. It’s a power that will need to be recognized and perhaps even tamed. When her older brother got his “savvy”, the family had to relocate due to high winds and severe damage, but just as Mibs is getting her “savvy,” the family receives the bad news that dad has been severely injured in a car accident. Mibs is convinced that dad needs her, and she and her siblings begin to find their way south, with the help of some other folks who are in need of big change in their lives. It’s a great combination of adventure, pluck and magic.
