Tonight is the night when Jaxter Grimjinx is going to attempt his first full blown robbery.  Accompanied by his Da the two slip through the night and find themselves at the home of the Castellan, a rich and powerful man in their community.  Is this the night when Jaxter will lose his clumsy ways and triumph at last?

One thing leads to another and the entire highly likable Grimjinx family finds themselves behind bars, something the authorities have wanted to do for a long, long time.  But the imprisonment is short-lived when a shady prophecy comes to light through a tapestry designed to foretell the future of Vengekeep.  The future looks to be a frightening disaster for the city and the only hope of defending the good folk against the floods and battles that await them is held by the thieving Grimjinx clan.

Can the Grimjinx family truly save the day?  The challenge before them is intimidating and overwhelming until Jaxter figures out a solution.  They need to gather a full list of ingredients to stop the tapestry from delivering its dark attacks.  But no one is allowed to leave Vengekeep by order of the High Laird.

Adventure, friendship, betrayal and danger lie ahead as Jaxter throws himself into his desperate mission.

Enk vessara, enk talmin.

You can't convict what you can't confirm.

Jaxter Grimjinx is a born thief. At least, he's supposed to be. For generations, the Grimjinx clan has produced the swiftest, cleverest thieves in Vengekeep.

The problem is, Jaxter is clumsy. So clumsy that in his first solo heist, he sets the Castellan's house on fire and lands his family in the gaol. Even Jaxter's skill for breaking magical locks can't get them out of this bind.

Then a suspiciously convenient prophecy emerges naming the Grimjinx clan as the soon-to-be heroes of Vengekeep. It's good enough to get his family out of the gaol, but with a firestorm, a flood, and a host of skeletal beasts among the dangers listed in the prophecy, Jaxter is pretty sure a life in the gaol would be a better fate.

Now—like it or not—Jaxter Grimjinx will have to become the hero he was truly born to be.
