Blue Shoe: A Tale of Thievery, Villainy, Sorcery and Shoes

The big-hearted shoemaker, Grel, takes young Hap on as his apprentice and saves him from being sent to the far side of Mount Xexnax. Hap is so grateful. He's also a thief. Will he be tempted by the beautiful, jewel-studded blue shoe that was commissioned and paid for by a stranger who has yet to return to collect it? Hap decides to help the shoemaker by putting the shoe in the window to draw business. All is well until the Mayor decides he wants that blue shoe and he sets about to ruin the life of Grel. Eventually, Hap is sentenced to the mines and there he gets word that his father is still alive. Together, Hap, his very good friend, Sophie, and other rebels set about overturning the balance of power and saving the beautiful blue stone that is the true heart of the people. The presence of the shoe is powerful, the bond between the father and son is heartwarming and the budding love between Hap and Sophia is delightful. This is an adventure story with some occasional flights of magic.
