This is one of my absolute favorite fantasy books to hand to girls. Pindel, the wizard, is deathly ill and holds within him the last five wishes left in the world. As he is falling unconscious, he is helped by twelve-year-old Morwenna, a servant in the castle, and unbeknownst to her, the Wizard bequeaths the last five wishes of the world to her. Word spreads through the countryside that someone has the wishes. Morwenna's friend is sure he has the wishes. How do you use the last five wishes of the world. Are the wishes a gift or a curse? How wonderful that they have fallen to this bright, lovely young girl.
