Basil, part lizard and part bat, hatches from an egg into a world where no other creature seems quite like him. He feels small and unsure of himself. He struggles to understand who he is and what he is capable of doing. Then, he learns that the wizard, Merlin, is in danger, and befriended by the wind, he sets off on a journey through Avalon's worlds to find Merlin and warn him.
