"The soldier looked down at him, steadied his boots in the mud, and with a grunt, pushed the steel hard into Jack's neck."  Thank goodness it was only Point of Departure, a video game.  But, Jack is about to learn that his father is deeply involved in a highly secret project involving the most sophisticated technology possible-time travel.  VIGIL is a group of computer scientists, engineers and physicists who are guarding this secret closely.  Suddenly, Jack is sent back to the time just prior to WWI when the assassination of the Archduke is about to take place.  If they can stop the assassination from happening, millions of lives will be saved.  But, who is chasing Jack?  Is his father the bad guy or the good guy?  This is non-stop action/adventure with wonderful twists and turns and the mystery of who is on the side of right and who is really wrong is riveting.  Great read for kids who love Alex Rider.
