Perfect You

Sixteen year old Kate has been friends with Anna since kindergarten when they built block towers together. They bought their first bras together even though Kate didn't really need one and Kate is the one who has always told Anna she looks great even when other kids are telling her she's a wide load. So, when this summer comes and Anna has to go to Maine, it's hard for Kate to see her friend go.

But, it's even harder when Kate comes back with blonde hair and lip gloss and seventy pounds lighter. Anna left some pounds back in Maine and she left her old self there too. Now, Anna looks right through Kate in the halls at school and only hangs with the popular girls that she and Kate used to make fun of together.

This is a coming of age story and a family falling apart story and a very cute guy story. Kate is going to need to stop looking for Anna to come back. Kate is going to have to start recognizing that her father might be headed out on his own path too. When things change, does life end?

Now enter Will, a nice change. Will has a different girl to make out with every week so why does Kate' heart beat a whole lot faster whenever he's around? "...I knew Will's laugh just like I knew he had a small scar right above his left elbow. You can't be lust-ridden about someone without noticing stuff about them." Kate isn't the only one doing the noticing. Will could fill you in on a few details about her too which is why they start meeting out by the trash bins behind their mall jobs to compare a few notes. Nice romance with a bit of kissing and a dose of reality about the ups and downs of life.
