Set in England and Ghana, this story of adventure and mystery is narrated by Zach Baxter after the death of hisgrandfather, the founder of a club for older African men. Zach is convinced that his grandfather’s stories of treasure stolen from slaves 300 years ago are made up until a series of events threaten his life. Now the maps and diaries his grandfather talked about have new meaning.
Zach is both resourceful and courageous. While he has more encounters with danger than seem possible, he manages to continue the quest. Along the way he acquires the help of a foster family, a street-smart teenager, and some African companions. This is a thoroughly enjoyable page turner.
